Leh & Ladakh is one of the newest Union Territories instituted under the Union of India and an emerging investment destination. With more than 320 clear sunny days in a year and average daily global solar radiation as high as 2022 kwh/m2/annum, Ladakh is a favourable hotspot for solar generation in India. Over 300,000 tourists visit Leh and Ladakh every year, presenting an immense opportunity in the tourism sector. The government of India has initiated a number of development projects for Ladakh in solar energy, education and tourism at an estimated investment of INR 50,000 crores by 2023. In a bid to bring in investment and jobs to Ladakh, the food processing ministry plans to ramp up food processing and agriculture activities in the UT.
