As of March 31, 2019, the transmission lines in India aggregated to a total length of 413,407 circuit kilometre (ckm), growing at a healthy CAGR of 7% since 2015. The shares of the Centre, states and private sector in the overall length of the transmission lines were 38%, 54%, and 8%, respectively. Under NIP, projects worth INR 304,050 crore are to be implemented under transmission category by PGCIL DVC, state and private players. In transmission, PGCIL is undertaking major projects such as HVDC Bipole Link between western and southern regions, interstate Green Energy Corridor Transmission Link and construction of substations.
